Private Space : Kael

This photo session, part of a series called Private Space, came about in Vietnam while my husband & I were there for Tết, or Lunar New Year. We met Kael on IG and decided to create some intimate images in our Ho Chi Minh City hotel room. Kael is from Morrocco and has lived in Southeast Asia for several years. We shared the status of being visitors with no family nearby during this important holiday in Vietnam for which family gatherings are part of the tradition and celebration. In some ways our short time together during the photo session gave us a sense of belonging on New Year’s Day so that we could lean into the new year once the fireworks were through.
